Baltimore County schools host mental health fair to connect students, families with local resources

Baltimore County is stepping up to tackle the growing youth mental health crisis with their third annual ‘Mind Over Matters’ event. This weekend, students and families came together at George Washington Carver Center in Towson to connect with local resources to help with the tough times many of our young folks are going through.
According to the latest youth behavior survey, 30% of high schoolers are feeling persistently sad or hopeless, and 1 in 5 middle schoolers have even made a suicide plan—that’s heavy.

And over 20 community nonprofits and health agencies showed up to help out. Offering all kinds of mental health resources. The event also featured some fun activities, like puppet shows for younger kids about “everyday heroes” and workshops for adults on topics like internet safety and family addiction.
I love it. And I appreciate that more folks are making mental health a priority. It is!
