Get ready, Baltimore!

Artscape will kick off Memorial Day weekend this year and, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott just dropped some major updates about the city’s favorite arts festival calling this year’s version a “bold reimagining.”

The biggest change? A new location! Artscape is moving from Mt. Vernon to downtown.

The main stage will now be right outside City Hall, and the Baltimore War Memorial will host an indoor art market. Plus, some of the festival action will happen under the Jones Falls Expressway, where the Baltimore Farmers’ Market usually takes place.

That move comes with a small downside, though as the farmers’ market won’t be open that Sunday. But on the bright side, the highway will offer some cover in case of bad weather, something last year’s stormy festival could’ve used.

Mayor Scott said the change is part of his Downtown Baltimore Rise initiative. When Artscape was in Mt. Vernon, it helped uplift that neighborhood. Now, it’s downtown’s turn for a boost.

Tonya Miller Hall, the mayor’s senior arts and culture adviser, revealed that the space is getting a makeover with new murals, a light installation, and added green spaces changes that’ll stick around even after the festival ends.

Despite all these updates, Miller Hall promised that Artscape will still have all the fan favorites people love. The mayor announced that Fantasia will headline on Saturday, with Robin Thicke taking the stage on Sunday. Tanner Addell & hip-hop duo Little Brother and R&B singer Tweet will also take the stage.

The Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts (BOPA) is still involved, even after the city ended its contract with them last year. BOPA has traditionally run big Baltimore festivals like Artscape and AFRAM, though the city had considered taking over.

With its fresh new setup and exciting lineup, Artscape 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most unique yet.
