Woman’s Guilty Plea Confirms Sex Trafficking is a Part of Maryland Underground Crime Scene.
THE BUZZ!
Maryland woman charged with sex-trafficking 11 pleads guilty
A Baltimore woman, Kenika Danielle Leach, just pleaded guilty to running a sex trafficking ring called the Pussy Kat Klub.
She was known as the operation’s first lady, forcing at least 11 women into a life of sex work. She’d arrange “appointments” with men, collect the cash, and even provide drugs to keep the women hooked and under her control.
The victims were often struggling with addiction or homelessness, making them easier targets.
Allegedly the women met these male “customers” in at least nine hotels in Washington, Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties, including those in the direct vicinity of Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport.
Thankfully, law enforcement stepped in and put a stop to it. The 33 year old Leach pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, distribution of cocaine and receiving the earnings of a sex worker. She faces a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
A confirmation that sex trafficking is happening right here in our community. Something we need to continue raising awareness about it. And taking more steps to protect our young women.
