“Think you can’t afford one of the best schools in America? Think again—this new policy changes everything!”
THE BUZZ!
Massachusetts Institute of Technology to waive tuition for families making less than $200K
MIT, one of the most prestigious schools in the world, just announced they’re making college tuition-free for most students starting next fall. Yup, you read that right—tuition-free!
Here’s the deal: if your family makes under $200K a year, you’re good to go for free tuition. And if your family makes under $100K? You’re getting everything covered—tuition, housing, meals, even your books and personal expenses! Can you imagine?
MIT’s Dean of admissions said, said they want to make sure talented students don’t miss out on their education just because of money. And lets face it, MIT is known for being super expensive (tuition alone was almost $58K last year). And that is higher than the $39,400 average for four-year private institutions in the nation.
Unlike most American colleges, MIT is not expecting students on financial aid to take loans. And they don’t give preference to legacy students (like, you know, kids of donors or alumni). It’s all about getting the best students into their doors, no matter their background.
So a great opportunity for some intelligent kids to get an education from a prestigious university that might not have been affordable before.
