Imagine visiting your dad’s grave for over 30 years, thinking he’s resting peacefully with the rest of your family. That’s exactly what Debbie Uraga did for 31 long years. But guess what? Her dad wasn’t there! His ashes were chilling in a funeral home’s basement!
Can you believe it? This poor woman and her family have been through a nightmare. They’ve been visiting an empty grave, thinking everything was okay.
However, in June, she was contacted by a man with an organization that retrieves unclaimed veterans’ remains to give them proper burials. The man shockingly told her he found her father’s remains inside a box in the basement of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home.
The funeral home is claiming they tried to contact her, but Debbie says, “Nope, not true!” Now, she’s suing them and the cemetery to make sure this never happens to another family.
