Terps Triumph in Paradise Jam Tournament
The Maryland Terrapins men’s basketball team rebounded from a disappointing home loss to the Oregon State Beavers on Sunday, November 17th, by venturing to St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands, and winning 3 straight basketball games against Marist College, Northern Iowa, and the Providence University Friars this past weekend to win the Paradise Jam Tournament Championship. Â The finals victory over Providence on Monday, November 25th, brought the Terps’ overall season won/loss record to 4 and 2. Â In the tournament finale against Providence, the Terps were led in scoring by University of Michigan transfer Evan Smotrycz, who tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds. Â He was named to the all-tournament team. Â Maryland point guard Dez Wells scored 13 points in the victory, and was named the Paradise Jam Tournament most valuable player. Â The Terps next game will be at home in the Comcast Center against the Bears of Morgan State University on Friday, November 29th.
